The Strehorn Crew completed their CCTS (Combat Crew Training School) with the 32nd CCTS at Davis-Monthan Air Field in Tucson, Arizona. They were one of the first crews transferred to the 492nd in Alamogordo, New Mexico on 5 Jan 44.

After arriving to the 492nd most of the crew was taken over by 2nd Lt Bernard Harding, who was one of the more experieced pilots Snavely inherited from the Pierce command. Lt Strehorn was demoted to co-pilot and served on the Smith Crew 906.

The Harding Crew was assigned to the 859th BS designated as Crew 902.
